ENHANCED CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (ECPD)

CPD

DTA members can access over 20 hours of free quality assured and verifiable CPD per year that provides lifelong learning specific to dental technologists' needs and including core subjects. We regularly engage regulators and stakeholders to incrementally improve the quality of CPD and the professionalism of its Dental Technologist members and wider Dental Team.

PDP

Our innovative website makes it easy to stay compliant, we provide members with an interactive template for a Personal Development Plan (PDP) to update over their five-year cycle.

LOG BOOK

Members have a personalised Log Book which updates automatically when a CPD activity has been completed and there is also an element of built in reflection which is a GDC requirement for ECPD. Read more about ECPD  .

PROFESSIONAL INDEMNITY AND LABORATORY CONTENT INSURANCE

 DTA has linked with UK Special Risks to provide cost effective professional indemnity insurance at a special discount, to meet the statutory requirement for our Dental Technician members. PUBLICATIONS

THE TECHNOLOGIST

The Technologist is a printed publication written specifically for members and is published four times a year. Each issue contains peer-reviewed and quality assured verifiable free CPD, including articles that provide an insight into a wide range of related dental topics and those all-important recommended subjects. With up to six hours of free CPD per issue, the website log book allows members to be confident they can meet their annual GDC requirements.

ARTICULATE

Articulate is an e-journal and is emailed to members four times per year. Articulate keeps members up to date with the latest news and also provides further free verifiable CPD to members. It often includes links to master class video presentations.

COMMUNITY

Be part of the DTA community. DTA is run by Dental Technicians for Dental Technicians and our voluntary management team have a wealth of experience within the Dental Technology profession. DTA membership provides support when you need it, the DTA office and support team are there to help you with your enquiries on a variety of topics. Plus, you can advertise jobs or your own skills via the DTA job advertising facility.

MEMBERS' AREA

Members have instant access to a range of information, advice sheets and guidance documents on a variety of topics within the members' area of the DTA website including; regulatory updates and requirements, technical, FAQs, factsheets, templates and business management.

FREE HELPLINES

All members have access to free legal, tax and counselling helpline 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

- Legal advice helplines provide experienced advisors who can provide both business members and individual professionals or consumer members with advice on any matter falling under the laws of the EU- including the UK, Norway and Switzerland. They can explain complex legal matters in everyday language, and have specialist knowledge in the areas of employment, regulatory matters, personal injury, medical negligence, property, contract disputes and consumer law to name but a few.

- Tax advice helplines provide confidential advice on any tax matters affecting UK tax affairs. This includes advice on self-assessment, income and corporation tax, tax credits, stamp duty, capital gains and inheritance tax and many other taxation issues. Advice about VAT and PAYE compliance is also available for businesses.

- The DTA is committed to promoting health and wellbeing and offer all members a free counselling helpline. Counsellors are trained to help callers to cope with stress, anxiety, relationship breakdown and bereavement as well as other issues of mental wellbeing. The helpline also provides information about relevant professional or voluntary bodies, that can offer further practical help and support. Advice and support is completely confidential.

IN THE KNOW

We regularly communicate to members by email and social media to highlight important information and keep members up to date with what is going on in dental technology, as well as the wider dental arena.

The DTA have created a platform to recognise professional UK dental technology and the importance and need for all dental professionals to support the UK profession and local businesses. BE REPRESENTED

The DTA are the voice for dental technologists throughout the UK, whether qualified or in training. We regularly survey members to understand current needs and highlight common concerns among our membership with various groups, associations and regulatory bodies within dentistry, representing you, influencing policies and helping to shape the future of dental technology.

DTA NEW PROFESSIONAL AWARD

The new 'DTA Fellowship' and 'Master' award have been developed to provide an opportunity for all experienced DTA members in good standing in their profession to gain recognition for their high-quality custom-made dental device manufacturing in their specific area of dental technology.
